The Guardian has produced a short documentary alongside writer Kieran Yates and director Marcus Plowright looking at the small “gaysian” community of Muslim drag queens in London.
The 12-minute video tells the story of Asifa Lahore, Britain’s first Muslim drag queen, her club night and the new queens on the scene that she mentors.
We also see the prejudice faced by these performers, they say, “They don’t respect us. They treat us like insects.”
